I paint large scale abstract paintings. My medium is oil on canvas.

My goal while painting is to work from the gut: to have the process be intuitive. I have to be sneaky with myself to avoid fixating on a predetermined idea of what the painting “should be.” So I start by mentally conjuring up multiple unrelated images from memories or fictional vignettes. The clash of these pictures helps me to not overthink the painting. Due to the open nature of the process, my paintings allow a viewer to bring themselves to the artwork and have a type of “dialogue.”
