i make handcrafted functional pottery for the kitchen, for holding flowers and for candles. my work is highly decorative with motifs and designs from the farm , garden and nature. i use a sturdy red clay body that is mid/high fired for sturdiness. the glazes are all food safe. i paint my wares with colored porcelain clay slip and then i carve the finishing drawing .this technique is called scraffitto. my plates and platters are also decorated on the underside with homemade stamps which shine through the finish honey colored glaze.
